Breeding Bird Survey

Whilst birds are using the nest (from the point that is it being built to when the young have fledged) the nest is protected.

Breeding Bird Surveys

Nest Checks from £399 +VAT

This survey checks for ‘in-use’ nests and recommends mitigation and compensation should birds be using the site.

Full breeding bird surveys can be undertaken when required and when a site is considered suitable to accommodate breeding birds.

This full survey can be undertaken during the nesting season commonly known as between March and August (some birds nest year round).

Six survey visits are conducted following the latest Bird Survey & Assessment Steering Group (2024) guidelines.

Visits are evenly spaced between late March and early July to cover the main breeding season.

Most surveys are conducted early in the morning, with at least one evening visit to detect dusk or nocturnal species (e.g., owls, nightjars, nightingales).
